Friday Favorites: Tinted Lip Balms

Tinted Lip Balm

Hi All and Happy Friday!

Growing up, one thing I’d never thought I’d ever admit to was becoming addicted to lip products.  It was something that I gradually became obsessed with and now I have more lipsticks / lip balms / etc. than I know what to do with!  As we head into summer, as with the rest of my makeup routine, I like to tone everything down and go for more of a natural look.  Where I don’t like thick layers of foundation packed onto my face when it’s warmer out, I also don’t care to apply a lip moisturizer, then a lip liner, then a lipstick, then some gloss to achieve a polished lip look.  So for my first ever “Friday Favorites” post, I thought I’d share my top 3 favorite tinted lip balms that I’ll be reaching for all summer long!

#3

Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviving Lip Balm

Starting with my  #3 choice – the Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviving Lip Balm (here) in the shade 001 Sheer Pink ($33.00 USD).  This was introduced to me as a product that works with your own lip chemistry to give off a unique shade of pink to each individual user.  My lips turn very pink when I use this; not in a MLBB (my lips but better) type of way, but in a BAM – here’s some tinted pink lips for you, type of way.  It’s fairly moisturizing, but I would have to say that it provides the least amount of moisture out of the three products that I’ll mention.  I’ll reach for this product more than the next two on days when I want a pretty pink lip that will last for hours.  This lip balm is not advertised as a stain, but that’s exactly what it does to my lips, it stains them pink.  I’ve noticed that I can apply it, eat, drink, and 4-5 hours later my lips will still have a flushed pink look to it.  I like using this when I’m going to the beach or to a theme park because I can just swipe some on and not have to worry about the color disappearing!  This product is also offered in 3 other shades if pink isn’t your jam.

#2

IT Cosmetics Vitality Lip Flush

My #2 choice is by IT Cosmetics and it is their Vitality Lip Flush (here) in the shade Je Ne Sais Quois ($20.00 USD).  Similarly to the Dior lip balm, this is another lip product that reacts to the user’s lips to create a natural, pretty flush of color.  This, on me, turns out to be a much more subtle pink than the Dior, so I find this to be more wearable in terms of an everyday color.  This is advertised as a 4-in-1 product and claims that out of this one lippy, you will get a moisturizing balm, the color of a lipstick, the extended wear of a stain, and the shine of a gloss.  The reason I reach for this lip product is because I find that it does live up to that.  It is very moisturizing, I love the color that I get out of it, the stain power in my experience is about 3-4 hours, and it definitely provides a subtle glossy sheen.  Another main reason that I love this product is due to some of the all natural ingredients that are listed in it.  It contains Shea Butter, Jojoba, and Aloe to provide moisture, as well as Acai, Green Tea, and White Tea for anti-aging benefits.  You can’t go wrong with putting all that goodness on, and it does come in 5 other shades as well!

#1

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescue

I saved my favorite for last – my #1 pick is actually the newest to my collection and it’s the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescue (here) in the shade Nude ($19.00 USD).  On top of it being the most cost effective, it is my perfect MLBB color in an intensely hydrating formula.  This is by far the most hydrating of all 3 products, and it also gives me the most natural color to match my skin tone, so I have been reaching for this constantly!  It has a nice minty scent to it, but it’s not one of those products that’s infused with peppermint to plump the lips.  This lippy is also filled with beneficial ingredients; another reason that makes it my favorite!  Some of the listed ingredients are marine flower and algae to help reduce fine lines and wrinkles, coconut oil for intense moisture, and Vitamin E which acts as an antioxidant barrier.  This is also my favorite because when I apply this product, it is so dewy that it looks like I actually took some extra time to add a lip gloss, when I didn’t!  The wear time of this product is the most minimal, so I do find myself having to reapply every 2 hours or so.  Lastly, it does come in 7 other shades as well ranging from a clear to a dark berry, so there’s quite a few to pick from!

I do want to point out that none of the above mentioned contains an SPF, so I do apply this Maybelline Lip Balm (here) as well for the SPF 20 benefit.  I’ve included swipes of each color on my forearm rather than what each looks like on my lips, mainly because the Dior and IT Cosmetics lippies will appear different on each user, and the color even differs on my forearm vs. when I apply it to my lips.

  2. It’s funny, but the thing that draws me in is the packaging. For some reason I want the Dior because I like the silver barrel and sheer pink cover. Weird, I know.

      1. I wish that it did have SPF-then it would def be my NUMBER ONE tinted lip go-to, but I don’t think that it does. It is an anti-aging formula and comes in 6 different shades.
