My Go-To Hair Care Products

My Go-To Hair Care Products

Hi All,

I’m currently traveling so I’m going to try my best to keep up with posts this week!  Today I wanted to share my go-to hair products.  I don’t use too many different types of hair care items, so these are more of essentials rather than styling products.

First up, my go-to shampoo and conditioner at the moment are both by Ogx and they are the Ogx Brazilian Keratin Therapy Shampoo and the Ogx Brazilian Keratin Therapy Conditioner.  I try to purchase sulfate free hair products, and I love the smell of the majority of the Ogx products.  I also rotate between the Macadamia Oil and the Argan Oil of Morocco options as well.  The Brazilian Keratin Therapy options are best for smoothing your hair and adding a glossy shine which I find that I need extra help with since my hair is colored!

The other shampoo and conditioner that I rotate in with this pair is by Joico and it’s their Joico Color Endure Violet Shampoo and the Joico Color Endure Violet Conditioner.  These are also sulfate free products and I really like them for maintaining the blonder highlights through my hair.  I will use this combo once every week at the most frequent if I feel I need the extra boost, but I typically will work them into my routine every couple of weeks.

My go-to hair oil at the moment is the Nexxus Oil Infinite Nourishing Hair Oil.  I read somewhere online that this was a good alternative option for the Aveda Dry Remedy Daily Moisturizing Oil.  I think the Nexxus is fine and it’s my go-to at the moment because it was pricey so I will finish this bottle 😆, but when this runs out I think I will switch back to the Aveda as I find that it works better.  The Nexxus does a decent job, but I don’t particularly like the smell.

My go-to heat protector for years has been the Tresemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray.  I don’t use heat products very often, but when I do this is what I reach for.  And unlike the above product, I really like the smell of this one!

And if you’ve read a couple of my other posts, you’ll know that this last product needs no introduction or explanation for me…

Do you use any of these products?!

I hope you’re having a great start to your week!

My Go-To Curling Iron For Beachy Waves

My Go-To Curling Iron For Beachy Waves

Hi All!

I wanted to share a fairly new-to-me curling iron that I’ve been loving so far this year.  It’s the 24K Gold Curling Iron by Hot Tools in the 1-1/4 in. barrel.

I’m pretty lazy when it comes to hairstyles – I pretty much only brush my hair on days that I wash it and hope that it doesn’t get too tangled on the in-between days!  However, every now and then, I like to put a little effort into how my hair looks and this is the tool that I’ve been reaching for!

Hot Tools 24K Gold Curling Iron

One of the main things that I like about this is the fact that you can use the iron in two ways.  The first way is to use the spring clamp and use it as a traditional curling iron.  The second way is to use it as a curling wand by just leaving the clamp down and wrapping your hair around the barrel.  I purchased my iron at Ulta, and depending on the look that you’re going for, they offer this curling iron in 5 different barrel sizes.  The smaller the size of the barrel, the tighter the curl will be and the larger the size of the barrel, the looser the curl will be.  The size of barrel that I have is smack dab in the middle, and I find it to be perfect for the beachy wave effect that I prefer.

The iron is very straightforward and has just 2 button areas.  There is a standard on / off switch on one side, and a temperature dial on the other side.Hot Tools 24K Curling Iron

I like that it has the little stand so that I can rest the iron on my countertop in between sectioning my hair and know that it won’t burn anything.  I also like the size of the hand-held part of the curling iron.  It’s very comfortable and I find that it’s very compatible for my hand-size in that I could maneuver the iron with just one hand if I needed to.  Another reason that this has become my go-to curling iron is because of the length of time that the waves hold without having to use hairspray.  I really dislike the crunchy feeling that hairspray leaves behind so I prefer not to use it.  I personally don’t mind that the waves loosen through the day, I just care that a wave is still visible, and this iron does just that.  I put it to the ultimate test when I visited Disneyland back in March – I curled my hair at 8am that morning, walked around during a very hot day, went on a bunch of rides, and the loose waves still held when I got home at around midnight.

After I curl my hair, I will loosely run my fingers through to separate the waves a bit, and this is what it looks like!

What are your favorite ways to wear your hair?!
